In the May edition of Canadian HR Reporter, Alaina MacKenzie, Regional Vice-President, Business Development, recommends that employers hit reset on their benefit plans to accommodate the preferences and usage trends of today’s five-generation workplace.
Her insightful article “Rethinking Plans for the Ages”, recognizes that one-size-fits-all benefit plans are increasingly being replaced with plans that give employees more choice – and control – over how they contribute to their wellbeing and spend their benefit dollars.
In designing plans that will be relevant and responsive to today’s workforce, “the focus should be on flexible solutions, customizable approaches, inclusive of wellness strategies and choice,” Alaina says.
“Ideally, modern benefit plans should be comprehensive, customizable and offer employees access to novel solutions that support prevention, effective treatment and safe return to work or disease management – across all five generations.”
