In an interview with Your Workplace Magazine, Medavie CEO Bernard Lord shares how our organization has supported employees through COVID-19 and the next steps the organization will take to prepare for the workplace of the future.
He spoke to how our organization quickly equipped 98 per cent of the Medavie Blue Cross workforce to work virtually from home, and of the initiatives that have been undertaken since to help employees stay connected and protected. This has included flexible working arrangements and programs to promote physical and wellbeing.
Recognizing that Medavie Blue Cross is one of Canada’s most admired corporate cultures, Mr. Lord reflected on how the organization has been working to maintain this positive culture through COVID and in a virtual environment, following four key guideposts: consult, communicate, support and execute.
He also spoke to how we quickly transitioned to provide online support for our plan sponsors, members, advisors, and consultants through a dedicated COVID-19 website and to the financial relief options we offered for small and medium-sized businesses to bridge this period of economic disruption.
In addition, Mr. Lord shared how early adoption of technology has played a key role and remains a powerful tool as we continue to provide our members and partners with solutions and services. He said he is hopeful that the accelerated collaboration and innovation that became necessary through this crisis is a “new normal” that we will all embrace.
