Important - Bypassing Medical Questions

We recently communicated a change to the application process regarding the ability to bypass medical questions.

Please remember: To bypass medical questions on an application, the applicant must currently be enrolled in an underwritten Blue Cross individual health plan. This includes:

  • Overage dependents moving to their own plan
  • Individuals moving to a separate plan due to separation or divorce
  • Members of an underwritten Blue Cross individual health plan transferred from another province

Any applications that bypass medical questions but are not qualified to do so will be returned to you, thereby delaying approval of the member’s application.

If you have questions, please reach out to Agent Inquiry or your Account Representative.

New Cancellation Date Process

Effective September 1, 2024, the billing calendar will be updated to show new date requirements for requests and processes for our individual members:

Cancellations - Cancellation requests must now be made within the first 5 business days of each month in order to be processed for the end of the current month.

Bank Change Requests - Updates to a member's banking information must be made 10 business days before the Banking date to allow for a bank change request to occur for the first of the next month.

New Claims Tracker Tool

We are happy to share an upcoming update to our digital tools. This Fall, our new Claims Tracker tool will let members view the status of their Health, Dental and Drug claims from start to finish when they log on to the Blue Cross Mobile app or the Medavie Blue Cross Member Services site. This new feature will allow members to easily understand when we are in processing their claim, reducing uncertainty about when to expect reimbursement or decision. More to come in next month's newsletter.

Holiday Schedule

Please note that the Agent Inquiry team will be unavailable on Monday, August 5, 2024 for the provincial holiday in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
