January 23, 2020

St. John’s, NL – Medavie Blue Cross is providing free access to Online Doctors through its Connected Care platform, for Newfoundland and Labrador residents covered by Medavie Blue Cross that require medical consultation.

Effective immediately and continuing until January 26, 11:59 PM NT, Newfoundland and Labrador residents with Medavie Blue Cross health coverage can receive up to two free online consultations through the benefit provider’s Connected Care digital health platform. Online Doctors leverages virtual care provider Maple to provide on-demand access to Canadian licenced doctors by video or secure text for advice, diagnosis and prescriptions.

“As Newfoundland and Labrador continues to deal with the aftermath of an unprecedented storm, we are providing free access to Online Doctors for these residents,” said David Adams, Vice-President, Business Development, Medavie Blue Cross. “This will provide much needed convenience during this challenging time and also help ease the burden on provincial health care services.”

Available through the Medavie Blue Cross mobile app and online via the Medavie Blue Cross member services site, Newfoundland and Labrador residents covered by Medavie Blue Cross can use their mobile device or computer to connect with a doctor free of charge for consultation and treatment.
